Fruit and Whole Grains: belong to the group of complex carbohydrates!
Your body digest those slower than simple carbohydrates like white sugar, rice and potatoes. Eat a small piece of dark chocolate or have a cup of milk to calm cravings. Cooked Food vs. Processed Food: Avoid processed foods, as they are often high in salt and sugar and preservatives to prolong shelf-life. Fresh, cooked food has fewer calories and lacks the harmful additives of heat-and-eat processed foods. Go Organic: Organic is not just the hottest fad in town, but it is the way to go.
Organic fruit, vegetables and milk, eggs and meat, retain more minerals and vitamins than their counterparts which are often treated with pesticides, or hormones. I rather pay a little more for meat, milk and eggs from animals that are treated humanly. Doctors say it's healthy for the average woman to gain 25 to 30 pounds while pregnant, but generally, no more than that. The weight you gain is specifically for baby and not a free ticket to eat whatever you want.
